R5 was an R5-series astromech droid resided in the town of Jaunta's Hope on the planet Toshara. It was owned by an individual named Saya who ensured that R5 received weekly memory purges.One day its motivation actuator was stolen by thieves rending the droid unable to move. Kay Vess, who had just finished her business in the city, noticed a malfunctioning droid near the house. After Vess commented on the bad day the droid seemed to be having, the droid responded by telling her what happened and asking for help. A human mechanic sitting on a nearby bench translated the droid's request into Galactic Basic for Vess who did not understand binary. Afterward Vess asked the mechanic if he was planning to help the droid, to which he responded that it wasn't their droid. Vess purchased a replacement motivation actuator from a merchant named Grenner Durangos.While Vess was gone a group of Stormtroopers stopped by and laughed at the droid. When Vess eventually returned, she installed the new actuator into the droid allowing the droid to move again. Grateful, the droid told Vess that it would not forget her, at least until its next memory wipe. It then proceeded inside Saya's house, also allowing Vess to enter. Read more... |
